Notification and Consent for the Processing of Personal Data
Michigan State University and The American College of Greece (collectively referred herein as “Data Controllers”)hereby inform you that they collect, process and store, in electronic or paper form, the personal data included in your present application (including without limitation: Candidate’s Full Name, Father’s Full Name, Date of Birth, Address, ID/Passport Number, Protocol Number, Contact Details, health data) (all such data is referred to herein, collectively, as “your personal data”), according to the provisions of the applicable legislation on personal data, including the Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council (“General Data Protection Regulation”), as in effect from time to time (called herein as “the Personal Data Legislation”), and subject to the specific terms and conditions set below:
The Data Controllers process your personal data for the purposes of your participation to Michigan State University English Language Examinations and for the purpose of informing you about the examinations results. The legal bases of the above processing are the performance of our contract, the serving of the legitimate interests of the Data Controllers and your written consent granted hereby. Any sensitive data will only be processed for the purpose of protecting your safety or fulfilling the obligations established by law, by regulations or by European Union Law, or for purposes relating to a health or safety emergency and complying with any applicable mandatory provision of local or European Union Law.
Your personal data will be accessible and processed by authorized employees of the Data Controllers, who will process the personal data solely for the fulfillment of the aforementioned purposes, and by no means for their own benefit. Furthermore, some of your personal data will be accessible and processed, within the framework of their responsibilities, by authorized external associates of the Data Controllers for the fulfillment of the aforementioned purposes (indicatively by the company “Point Blank” which currently provides the internet platform for your registration). Furthermore some of your data will be transferred to the US (to Michigan State University) for the evaluation of your examination paper and the award of the degree to you. Any further transfer of personal data to any third person or to a country outside the European Union, will take place only in accordance with the Personal Data Legislation.
The Data Controllers will keep and process your personal data for as long as it is required for the serving of the aforementioned purposes of processing and for as long as it is required in order to comply with their legal obligations and to defend themselves against any legal claims. After such time period, the Data Controllers will proceed to the definite deletion of your personal data.
Subject to certain exceptions, conditions and limitations provided by the Personal Data Legislation, you can exercise your right of access, rectification, restriction of processing, objection, erasure of your personal data, as well as the right to data portability. In case you exercise one of the aforementioned rights, the Data Controllers will promptly take action to satisfy your request, according to the specific provisions and conditions of the Personal Data Legislation, and shall inform you in writing regarding the satisfaction of your request, or for the reasons that prevent the exercise or the satisfaction thereof according to the Personal Data Legislation.
In addition, you may at any time withdraw your present consent, although any such withdrawal will not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before such withdrawal or of processing based on any other legal basis. We inform you that in case of withdrawal of your consent, we will not be able to use your personal data and your participation in Michigan State University English Language Examinations may not be possible.
Furthermore, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Hellenic Data Protection Authority, in case you consider that the processing of your personal data is against the applicable legislation.
